Staff from Barry-based COS Group have donated hundreds of items to St David’s Foundation Hospice Care to distribute amongst its 27 charity shops across Gwent. Clothing, shoes, books, DVDs, and even furniture have been donated to the charity to help it kick start the new year with a bang.

This donation is part of a wider partnership that has seen the COS Group support the charity for a number of years. James Emery, managing director of the COS Group, said: “We believe strongly in investing in the community and in helping our staff to help others. We are delighted with the items our staff have generated for St David’s charity shops and are pleased that we are able to help them at a time when many charity shops have been left with empty racks due to a fall in donations on the back of the recession. The charity provides an invaluable service to the local community and we look forward to continuing our support this year.”

In 2009, St David’s Foundation celebrated 30 years of bringing care home. From its first year of operation, when it cared for six patients, St. David’s has grown to become the UK’s largest provider of hospice at home care, caring for over 2600 patients and families every year.

Adrian Hadley, Operations Director, said: “The recession has meant that donations have been difficult to come by, therefore we are extremely grateful to the staff of COS for their donations and their continued support. It cost over £5 million to deliver our services each year and we would not be able to maintain these vital services without the help and support of local people and the business community who have supported St. David’s Foundation Hospice Care so generously.”
